2009 Upper Deck Game Jersey

April 30, 2009

I’ve never really collected a ‘good’ player before Hamilton.  To that end – its been more than a little bit overwhelming with all these cards in every release.  Luckily, I have calmed down a bit on the obsessiveness and I don’t feel compelled to chase down absolutely everything he is pictured on.  I still want them all, but I am in a happy place with regards to my ability to actually get them all.

Today’s addition to my endless quest is a basic game used jersey card from 2009 Upper Deck Series 1.  I really like these cards – the faux jersey in the letters (it had me fooled for a long time, until I realized that it wasn’t actually jersey in the ‘JH’ spots), and also the jersey texture behind the team logo.

I am still on the lookout for the dual jersey, the triple jersey and the quad patch.  If you have a copy and are looking to trade it, drop me a note.

1999 Topps Traded Chrome

April 28, 2009

One more off the list of Hamilton’s 1999 cards.  This is the Chrome version of 1999 Topps Traded.  As usual – my scanner hates Chrome.  A friend threw this one in with a package he was sending my way.

Sliding Around

Spring Cleaning!

April 26, 2009

OK, I think its time to try to get my desk cleared off, finish up some projects, and maybe get some cards to their proper homes.  This is partly driven by the fact that I picked up the card you see to the right via a Beckett trade the other day.  It was the absolute final card I needed for my 2008 Allen & Ginter base set.  To be honest – I had kind of forgotten about it, until I was running through my checklists.  After a quick couple of click through the trade system, I had one targeted and worked out a deal for it.  With that complete, I now think I should put some time into getting those mini sets polished off too.

With that goal in mind, I have completely updated my set wantlists. I have also assembled a little bit of a list of some of my tradeables.  I have kind of targeted this list towards some other bloggers I know are out there, as well as some of the sets I know are popular.  If you see something you like – let me know and maybe we can work out a trade.  If you see something you like, and I still owe you for some earlier generosity – let me know and I can even out the ledger a little bit.  If you don’t have anything for my sets, feel free to check out my Josh Hamilton list.  It isn’t completely updated, especially with 2009 stuff (which I am in dire need of) so feel free to make an offer of anythig featuring Hamilton.  I’m a bit obsessive like that.

Oh, to be young again…

…and maybe a time machine, because I am late getting the news.

The first 7500 kids (13 & under) at the Texas Rangers game last weekend received some type of Josh Hamilton jersey.  There is a bit of a debate in the comments section here about what exactly ‘jersey’ entails.  Regardless – if I were a kid who had attended the game – I’d be psyched.

The Finest Kind….

April 21, 2009

I’m still a little swamped.  I haev a few cards incoming, but who knows if I will have time to do any scanning or anything like that.  Luckily, sometimes things get done for me.  I had an email from a good friend who busts cases of a lot of stuff.  He pulled this little buddy for my collection.

Its the Blue Rerfractor /399, and if I do say so myself – its beautiful!

Also, if you happen to stumble across this, Josh – a few hits would really help my fantasy team.  And the Rangers.

2009 Upper Deck Autographed Game Jersey

April 17, 2009

My updates and comments have been a little bit sporadic for the last few days.  I had been doing two jobs part time since January, but this week I switched to doing one full time, and keeping one part time one.  Needless to say, it has cut into my free time just a little bit.  I love what I am doing in both places though, so I am not going to complain.  I realize its a nice problem to have right now.  Hopefully after this week I will have a bit better system in place, for getting everything that needs to get done – done.  You know – doing laundry rather than going to Wal-Mart and buying a new package of socks.  We’ve all been there.  I hope.

I did have one awesome piece of mail that I somehow had sent to my parent’s home instead of my apartment.  Over Easter weekend, I got the chance to pick it up.  2009 Upper Deck has a great design for the jersey cards, and I am slowly working on piecing together the complete run.  Here’s the biggest one so far.

Racking up the Steals

April 16, 2009

My first round selection of Josh Hamilton is paying unexpected dividends in the stolen base category.  Hamilton has had a slightly slower start with the bat this year, but he already has two stolen bases.  He only had 9 total last season.

I couldn’t find a picture of Hamilton actually stealing a base, so I decided to go with this shot of him sliding into second.  Even though he was forced out on the play.  It shows off his Jackie Robinson jersey nicely as well.

Hamilton’s First Homer of 2009

April 12, 2009

Josh Hamilton broke the goose egg he’d been carrying around in the home run column this season.  He hit a two run blast against the Detroit Tigers this afternoon.  Unfortunately, the Rangers lost the game 6-4.

Here’s Hamilton on his home run trot.  I think the shin pad is new this year.

Also, check out Hamilton’s entry in Bad Wax’s list of Definitive Rookies.  My favorite of his 1999 RCs is the Topps Traded.
