ESPN Homecoming

Josh Hamilton is heading back to high school today.  He is returning to his alma mater, Athens Drive High School in Raleigh, NC to shoot an episode for a new ESPN series called ‘Homecoming.’  I’ve never heard of this series, before, but I think the title is pretty much self explanatory.  Anyone attending needs a ticket, and the school was giving away free tickets earlier this week.  If anyone happens to get out to this, feel free to provide a report in the comments section, or shoot me a link if you have your own site to post it on.

Also, if anyone has any info on when this is airing, let me know.  I don’t have ESPN in Canada (well, I have ESPN Classic Canada, but I don’t think I want to wait for them to show it), but I’ll try to track it down somewhere.

My friend got a ticket, I’ll ask him to report on it.

  2. That’s great, I’d love to hear it.

I was there, and it was really cool. Interesting to see something like that from the production side. Will be curious to see it on TV. Lots of special guests in attendance as well, including Clay Counsil, Jerry Narron, Salty, and even Richard Davis and Ginger from “Flip That House.” Rick Reilly is the host of this new show, and did a pretty nice job. The interview had some really good moments. Reilly asked the tough questions, and Josh answered everything, even if it was obviously difficult for him at times. I’m glad I was able to attend.

  4. Thanks for the report. I didn’t realize Rick Reilly was the host of the show – I really like his work. Some of the commentary at the Home Run Derby was a little over the top, but he was definitely a fresh voice to the proceedings. His columns are always a must read for me.

It was an amazing event last night at Josh’s old high school. Truely an inspiring story and it was great to see his whole family, past team members from high school and even a current Ranger’s player there to support him. An amazing story of Christ at work in someone’s life.

Josh Hamilton will also be having a book signing starting at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7 at Barnes & Noble, 760 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary.

Truly awesome ! What a testimony in a day & age where taking a stand for Christ is not popular . It will be interesting to watch what the media will actually air during the broadcast. Will they leave Christ out again ? I sat there with awe and emotion as Josh opened his whole life again in front of family & friends, which will be aired to the the whole world once again. It so great to hear such a refreshing story of how God’s wonderful love can reach within the midst of any situation and turn a life into a beacon of hope for the world to see. When this airs, you will not want to miss it. Thank you Josh for a memorable night and hope it spoke to others as it did me.

I salute Josh, but more than Josh I salute Jesue Christ for his Grace and Mercy. People think that Heaven is full of good people, WRONG its full of BAD PEOPLE that have been REDEAMED. I hope I can get a copy of this show. I was so excited that night to watch the home run derby
